Well Otronicon was about a month ago but I still remember it well. My first con and half a let down and half a real good time. What made it a good time was my friends. If they weren't there to help make fun of the con then I wouldn't nearly have as much fun.
Yeah, it was a real let down. Most of the games they had on the show floor were old (nothing really too new) and the only game we played alot was Halo 3 in the I-Max Theatre! That was an experience! Imagine a 20 foot or larger projection screen dome with an amazing surround sound set up and you'll only know the half of the experience. I got to play a few times as well. I'd like to say I don't suck... but I do.

got beat all the time but I was able to get 2 to 5 kills before the match was over (which was to 10 or 15 kills).
They had a few other attractions like an AK-47 simulation area where you shoot an air compressed shooting AK-47 (this gives it the look and feel of the real thing without the bullets). So you shoot a screen with a target way off in the distance and you've got 15 shots. Most people seemed to have trouble but I got 15 straight head shots, and in quick succession! (I'm dangerous with a gun so watch out

)
I also got to play Assasin's creed but the intro to the game is SO long that I didn't even get to the fighting or sneaking part of the game... (though I still wish I had the game)
They had the Wii set up with some games as well, Wii boxing being our favorite. ( I lost to Ryan every round

)
Well that was pretty much the highlights of the games they had there. We also played SSBM (they didn't have Brawl!!!) and a little bit of Guitar Hero III (of which I also sucked at)
The other aspect of Otronicon was the Workshops, the worst of worst disapointments. From the first workshop I found what type of workshops they were, introductions to different programs. (even though the names of the workshops led one to believe differently)
The very first workshop I went to was probably the best. It was introducing us to I-movie I-photo and other things as such (nothing I really care for) but luckily we had an awesome teacher and after we got the workshop over with we spent most of the time talking about different things and he gave me some helpful advice for my video game I'm making!
He also told me that all the workshops were dumbed down from the previous year because of the large amount of kids that come to see the event... needless to say all of us including the teacher was very upset about this fact.
The last workshop was also pretty cool, it was an introduction to Game Maker pro 7. It's like how dreamweaver makes html web page programming easier so does Game Maker make the whole programming aspect of 2D based sprite video games easier. The class took 2 different sessions each 5 hours. Unfortunantly they went at an incredibly slow pace as required by the event orginizers because of the dumbing down.
Me an Ryan took the inicitive and went further than the rest of the group, figured things out on our own (it wasn't the first time I've made a 2D video game) and made our own unique rip offs of mario and other 2D side scrolling games. The rest of the group was so intriqued (including the kids) that every one was going ahead with our help and the teachers decided to pick up the pace as well! So we pretty much stimulated that boring class that every one, including the children and teachers, were getting bored of.
So all and all I enjoyed my time there, will I go back? Probably not, unless my friends come again and Otronicon makes a large makeover. I might visit again though for one reason, the PIZZA! They make some AMAZING pizza (which was our principle lunch food for 3 days)
Other than Otronicon, the rest of the month has been school, college, the video game, future plans for england, 3 failed attempts at getting a passport. I've also got

's drawing to finish, a few other drawings I have in mind, and I need to get more active online because I plan to start commisions in the not too distant future.

Right now I'm open for requests and trades so ask me what you will and I'll more than likely (when I find time) draw it!

When life gives you lemons, the sporks will attack. And then a giant meteor will crash into the earth, thereby dooming us all to oblivion. The moral of the story? Dont trust the lemons! They work for the light fixtures! Psychogirl Rivera
